Cortney Care Kit

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 1, 2007
Children’s Catastrophic Assistance Network (CCAN) Distributes “Cortney Care Kits” to So Cal Pediatric Trauma Centers

ORANGE, Calif - Imagine your child suddenly being hospitalized due to a catastrophic injuryor illness. You are immediately overwhelmed with last-minute things as you frantically rush to the hospital where your child is being treated. You may spend several hours or even days in the emergency waiting room, foregoing any other responsibilities you have to your spouse, other children, relatives, etc. This is where the Cortney Care Kit, with its basic necessities and supplies, offers some stress relief and comfort.

The Kit includes personal hygiene and grooming supplies, snacks, water, a blanket, pen and paper and a helpful “reminder” list of 10 Action Items to keep you focused during this stressful time.

The evolution of the Cortney Care Kit is the result of what has happened to families (some now CCAN members) when severe trauma befell one of their children. Over the course of several long hours, the basic items included in this Kit will offer immediate stress relief and comfort, allowing parents the opportunity to focus on more important details at hand. It is with great pleasure and love that CCAN is able to give the Cortney Care Kits to families of children in pediatric trauma centers. Western Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Children’s Hospital of Orange County at Mission, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and UC Irvine Medical Center are just a few trauma units that may receive these Kits.
